Terms of Service
Ruler Online is provided free of charge for general reference, educational, craft, and household utility purposes. Although our calibration algorithms provide high accuracy (typically within ±0.5 mm), measurements depend on correct user calibration, hardware display properties, and browser zoom.
Ruler Online is NOT certified for legal metrology, architectural engineering, medical procedures, or commercial weight-and-measure transactions. Always use certified physical measuring tools for mission-critical applications.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Ruler Online (ruleronline.net, the "Service"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease accessing or using the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Ruler Online provides interactive, browser-based digital measuring tools capable of rendering visual rulers in centimeters, millimeters, inches, and screen pixels. The Service includes calibration wizards (Automatic Profile Detection, Diagonal Dimension Calculation, and ISO Standard Credit Card Sizing), unit conversion utilities, educational measurement guides, and dimensional reference data.
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service strictly in accordance with these Terms for your personal or internal business reference.
3. Calibration & Accuracy Disclaimer
The visual dimensions displayed by the digital ruler are computed based on screen pixel density (Pixels Per Inch, or PPI). You acknowledge that:
- Calibration Requirement: Uncalibrated screens may display inaccurate dimensions. You are solely responsible for calibrating the ruler using our calibration tools prior to relying on any measurement.
- Hardware & Zoom Factors: System display scaling (e.g., Windows 125% or 150% scaling, macOS Retina pixel-doubling) and browser zoom settings (non-100% zoom) alter screen dimensions. For accurate results, your browser zoom must be set to 100%.
- Parallax Error: When holding physical objects against glass screens, optical refraction through the display cover glass may introduce visual parallax distortion.
- No Certification: The tools provided on this website are not calibrated or verified by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM), NIST, or any statutory weights and measures authority.
4. Acceptable Use & Prohibited Conduct
You agree to use Ruler Online solely for lawful purposes. You must not:
